Amongst the 16,000 permanent roles for new workers include the 3,000 new delivery drivers. The pandemic-fuelled online services shifted many jobs to eCommerce as many jobs are wiped out in UK's shopping districts.
In United States, the pandemic helped drive up Walmart's eCommerce sales up by 97% in the second quarter of 2020. This was also driven by the stimulus checks on home goods, electronics and lawn care products as reported by the company.
Costco are expanding their operations overseas during the pandemic, while it is expected to increase their US Store base by more than 400 warehouses over time.
